When one of the colors in a print repeats hues found in other prints situated nearby, the new pattern can step out a bit by introducing larger amounts of other colors, and by introducing a different overall design motif. In this case, the pink flowers contained with the stripes provide enough color continuity with other fabrics in the room to permit the stripes to take a bold green and white appearance.
